Where are you from? How long have you lived in Denver?

I was born and raised in Holyoke, Co. Both of my parents are from Ecuador and they journeyed here in the 60’s to raise their family. I have proudly called Denver my home since moving here in 2004.

What were you like as a student?

As a younger student, I was easily distracted and needed much guidance, both socially and mentally. When I began taking my education seriously, however, I was able to detour my whole mindset towards education and envision a reality where being a student was much more a gift than a chore. It really takes a village.

What are your secret talents and/or hobbies?

I enjoy sewing by needle and thread. It’s such a warm memory I have of my mom, so whenever I want to unwind and enjoy thoughts of my mom, I find something to sew.

I also love reading. Reading about any and everything. It’s extremely calming for my soul to sit and open a new book and indulge in a new adventure.

What is your favorite thing about being a part of the MCT family?

I have SO many things that I adore about MCT! If I have to narrow it down, it would be the way each staff member is here on purpose and for a purpose, how each student that enters this community is truly seen, and the relationships and connections made daily with students and staff, it’s an honor to be a part of this family!

What is your favorite thing about your work?

My favorite thing about this work is that our students teach us just as much as we teach them.
